The Dynamite is Placed

I would have had the whole part of my rocks blocking the pathway done today if it was not for the fact that it took me all day to figure out why my first stage animation was not playing... something simple too does that not figure
Turns out that just placing my model in the scene without an animation made it not want to work even though the same process had in the past. For some reason I had to use my actual import that had the animation already on the FBX file, add the java scripts and place the appropriate items in the inspector and then it worked. I'm doing this the same way I made the "Old Farm Gate" where if you HAVE the gate key and walk up to the gate, press [Q] key the gate plays the "unlock animation", in this case the "Place Dynamite" animation. Press the [Q] key again and then the "Gate Swings open animation", in this case, start the "detonation animation" which will have a lighting of the dynamite fuze and then the explosion.

Anyways I have it now where if you HAVE the dynamite you can walk up to the rocks and then Place the Dynamite as seen here.
I made one of the rocks a different texture so it stands out as perhaps the right place to put the dynamite... although I don't think it would have taken someone long to figure out where best to put it. I thought about having a glowing "X" on the ground ONLY if you HAVE the dynamite to signify where to place it... but naw... not unless it does seem difficult to figure out....

Next up, the big Bada BooooM!

Alien Zombies Walk Through

A walk through on my "Alien Zombies" FPS game that I have been working on these last three months. This is just cobbled together using 30 second clips from Fraps.
As you can see level one is getting pretty close to completion. Oh there's lots and lots of annoying little problems I'm still trying to work out and fix. Things like giving the doors more individual sounds, Fixing my Alien Zombie Waypoint issues, Some AI script adjustments to make my Alien Zombies function better, Add the animations for the Blasting clear of the rocks that block the path leading out of this level, fix my GUI issues and weapon issues, eventually animate the shotgun with a reload animation, fix my ammo pickup isses, get my "Alien Artifacts Inventory System" to work... and many many more things to fix up... but it's getting there after almost 3 month of pure frustration. I'm a graphic artist NOT a programmer so that is making things quite difficult for me.

Our New Home

Welcome to my new blog that I am dedicating to my Unity 3D FPS video game project titled; "Rednecks and Alien Zombies." My other blog was starting to get filled up with quite a bit of information on my game creation project, so much in fact that I felt the need to give it it's very own blog as it is turning out to be quite an involved project.

"Rednecks and Alien Zombies" is a first person shooter video game being developed by myself at present. I have had no prior experience with video game creation. I fancy myself as more a graphic artist creating 3D models, book covers, some photography, etcetera. I like to dabble in a lot of things and video games has long been something I've wanted to get into but not being a programmer has always made that somewhat impossible. But about three months back I stumbled upon Unity 3D which, although quite Java Script and other programming languages heavy, is still a very easy to use application for artist of any calibre to use in order to create video games.

"Rednecks and Alien Zombies" is a game about a farmer named "Bob" who one night discoveries that Alien creatures have invaded his homestead. A UFO hovers over and "Ancient Stone Circle" close to Bob's home, Aliens in his back yard, aliens over by his old barn and chicken coop, Alien everywhere, but where are they all coming from and how can Bob get rid of them.

Bob will go on an adventure through several game levels collecting items he needs to defeat the "Alien Zombie Menace." Can Bob do it, does he have enough weapons & ammo to fight his way through each level to eventually get on board the mother ship and blow it up and save the world! Time will tell.

So this is going to be where I will make all of my future announcement about how my game is progressing, and the many development issues that I will come across during it's development. Hopefully it will help other "newbs" like myself to create their own games and solve some of the same problems.
